Kuala Selangor Nature Park is a vibrant sanctuary for wildlife enthusiasts, offering an immersive experience in the wetland and mangrove ecosystems near the Straits of Malacca.
Located at the mouth of the Selangor River along Malaysia's west coast, Kuala Selangor Nature Park is renowned for its diverse landscapes and rich biodiversity. The park spans over 800 acres and includes a mix of secondary forest, mangrove swamps, mudflats, and an artificial lake that supports a vast array of flora and fauna. Established in 1987, the park was created to conserve the unique mangrove ecosystem which provides a habitat for a variety of wildlife, including silver leaf monkeys, mudskippers, and numerous bird species such as the heron and stork. Historically, the area was an important site for fishing communities and local agriculture, making it a significant part of the cultural heritage of Selangor. Visitors can engage in birdwatching, take guided walks along scenic trails, or embark on a boat tour to explore the mangroves. Public education and awareness programs are also regularly held to promote conservation and understanding of the wetland environment.
